“We visit our home daily and feel a weight lifted. We are so appreciative of the MDS team and the support from Hoʻōla and their partners. It feels like we are almost home.”

In just 10 weeks, Mennonite Disaster Service (MDS) volunteers completed the exterior structures and roofing of two homes, including building all trusses. These homes are now progressing through electrical and plumbing inspections—visible, tangible milestones that families can see and feel.
One homeowner shared:
“We visit our home daily and feel a weight lifted. We are so appreciative of the MDS team and the support from Hoʻōla and their partners. It feels like we are almost home.”
Brandy Cajudoy of Cajudoy Construction reflected on the partnership:
“Working alongside the MDS team has been inspiring. Their craftsmanship, humility, and respect for families is unmatched. This is what collaboration should look like.”
An MDS volunteer shared a moment that stayed with us:
“He carries his whole family on his shoulders with so much humility. He gives me hope for this island.”
Our collective goal is to rebuild approximately 15 homes per year, but the impact goes far beyond construction.
MDS is not only rebuilding structures—they are helping restore confidence, connection, and hope.
